The problematic of the estimation of public funding of culture in Arab countries has long been subject to various speculations. Today, we can estimate, more or less accurately depending on the country, the annual budget of ministries in charge of culture.
Cultural activists have played an important role in recent changes in North Africa. Have they been rewarded by increasing the budget of culture by the governments?
